SE20, Penge  was hit by 23 V1 Flying bombs attacks, although no V2's were to strike (several fell close to SE20 boundaries). This was in a relatively small area, which gave Penge the reputation as the worst hit borough. By the end of August 1944 there were no undamaged buildings in the area . Sadly 71 people were killed.

Twenty-five years ago, driven by a desire to understand how these weapons shaped modern London, I embarked on a deep-dive research project. After hundreds of hours of investigation, I published my findings here. The V1 Flying Bomb and V2 Rocket represent a pivotal chapter in London’s history, and I am pleased to share this research with fellow history enthusiasts.
