SE17 was hit by 6 V1 Flying Bombs but no V2 Rockets. These killed about43 people.The worst tragedy in SE17 in terms of fatalities was on the 17thJuly 1944 when 17 people died as a result of a V1 on Suffield Road (which isnow gone but was off Manor Place)

Twenty-five years ago, driven by a desire to understand how these weapons shaped modern London, I embarked on a deep-dive research project. After hundreds of hours of investigation, I published my findings here. The V1 Flying Bomb and V2 Rocket represent a pivotal chapter in London’s history, and I am pleased to share this research with fellow history enthusiasts.
