Hither Green and Grove Park were hit by 10 V1's and 1 V2 killing 14 people

The devastation at the junction of Spring Bank Road and Nightingale Grove caused by the V1, which struck on 29th July 1944- Sadly, 4 people were killed.

Twenty-five years ago, driven by a desire to understand how these weapons shaped modern London, I embarked on a deep-dive research project. After hundreds of hours of investigation, I published my findings here. The V1 Flying Bomb and V2 Rocket represent a pivotal chapter in London’s history, and I am pleased to share this research with fellow history enthusiasts.
