The London SE24,Herne Hill area escaped relatively lightly from the V weapon attacks. 5 V1's fell in the area and no V2's are recorded. About 6 people died in the attacks.. The most obvious V weapon site in Herne Hill is in Stradella road where the line of Edwardian houses can be seen to be interrupted by post war development half way upt he West side. Equally in Guernsey Grove the damage area is clearly defined by re-development.
In Burbage Road the effect is more subtle. The demolished houses shown below have been re-built in an identical style to their neighbours which were seriously damaged. The Carver Road site is also harder to detect. however careful inspection of the Edwardian houses on the South side reveal a slightly different style in the re-built houses.
