A Dulwich Mystery
My Father,Tony Henden,  who lived with his parents in Dovercourt Road Dulwich has
On leave from the RAF he encountered the devastion caused in
Court lane,at the end
of his road by a V2 6th January 1945
(see Dulwich V1/V2 Log for details)
My Grandparents house was slightly damaged by this missile but they were unhurt.

When he saw the devastation at the end of his road he noticed that one house had a
single wall still standing amongst the ruins.
Looking up the wall he was surprised to see, at first floor level a picture of Christ
hanging on the wall.
Christ looked out as if in sadness or as a memorial over the scene where 7 people had
died in their own homes. How it go there or how it survived the blast when all else was
destroyed will never be known. My father had never mentioned this before but when I
discussed my interests his memory was very vivid after 60 years
